Fast-rising South African duo Thee Suka have unveiled their new single ‘Aluwawa’, out on Ministry of Sound.
An arresting combination of soaring vocals, joyous piano chords and moving breakdowns, ‘Aluwawa’ sees Thee Suka tap into the vibrant Afro-Tech sound that they have made their own. Their first release of the new year, it comes after the pair recently signed to Sony Music subsidiary Ministry of Sound.
“‘Aluwawa’ is an accentuating prayer, a clear solicitation through an empathic spiritual tongue known as Aluwawa,” Thee Suka explain. “Gingery sounds with nostalgic vibes yet curated for the dance floor with the ideology resonance in the Afro Sound. Immaculately disseminated chords with a rhythm from choiring ballads of men from the village. The song draws emotions with its kinetic bouncy aura that is equally integral for the dance floor.”
Speaking about signing to Sony Music, the duo added: “We aim to live up to our first impression with our previous single ‘Mano Mano’. We are excited to release our latest offering under the Sony Music Entertainment roster. Rooted by galvanic chords and stimulating melodies this 6:22 minute song enunciates ancestry, izwa imithandazo (hear our prayers), a universal palm of a hounding being.”
Thee Suka formed in the midst of the pandemic in 2020 with the aim of spiritually soothing the world through Afro House music. Their debut single ‘Mano Mano’ made an instant impact, receiving heavyweight support from the likes of Keinemusik, Cecles and Black Coffee, who made it the theme song throughout his 2021 international summer tour and on his Brooklyn Mirage reel video. Having also worked with DJ Tekniq on a song tittled ‘Bale Kule’, Thee Suka got the attention of Aluku Records which later released Various Compilation SA Edition Pt. 3 and featured ‘Zulu‘ by the duo, an equally feelgood and soulful second offering in January.
The duo’s first release on the esteemed Ministry of Sound imprint, ‘Aluwawa’ represents the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the story of Thee Suka.
