‘Your Retreat’ is out today on Unheard Music, marking the label’s second release and showing its dedication to raw, underground electronic dance sounds. Malandra Jr., the Italian artist behind the track, grew up surrounded by music. Inspired by his dad’s saxophone playing, he started composing early on with Atari computers and Cubase. He later studied classical piano and clarinet at the Academy of Teatro alla Scala. His big break came with ‘Conquest’ on Cocoon Recordings, which led to releases on Dfloor, Stil Vor Talent, and R&S, as well as gigs at major venues like Tomorrowland and Watergate. At these events, he creates DJ sets that blend gritty rhythms with lighter melodies. For this release, he teamed up withpizzaaftersex, a newcomer who co-founded the label with Far&High and Mona Chrome last year. The track reflects pizzaaftersex’s move from cinematic production, including work on international gaming projects, to making club-ready beats as both a DJ and producer.

Anchored by a rolling house groove and melodies that lift spirits with subtle flair, the track finds its magic in both intimate clubs and sprawling festival stages. Musumeci transforms it with an Italo indie dance twist, weaving in shimmering synths and a heartbeat that nods to the golden age of Italian disco while firmly rooting it in modern house for universal allure. Kirik dials up the energy, injecting bold basslines and crisp percussion that glide effortlessly between sets, making this release a versatile gem for any electronic playlist.

pizzaaftersex revealed: “For me, this is a very special piece of work. The release turned out to be dual – there is an incredibly strong mood that Malandra brought into the track, there are amazing remixes by Musumeci & Kirik, and there is also my original vision of the track, which dissolved within the interpretations of other artists. It is an incredible experience to live through this process, to accept it, and to fall in love with what it became. This is an extremely positive experience, and I hope everyone will be able to feel all the shades of our new release on Unheard Music.“

Malandra Jr. shared: “This project was born between Italy and Dubai. It comes from deep mutual respect and from a fresh, sparkling melody that immediately pushed me to create something that could make it even lighter and more enjoyable to listen to. At first, I thought of something indie but then house music showed up. I hear summer in it, good vibes. A driving loop that releases into drops full of groove. Don’t look for overthinking here, this is about holding a glass in your hand and enjoying life.“
